Before doing any research on the idea that my generation was "the dumbest generation," I was completely open to it. I thought, "hmm well maybe you could look at it like that I guess." I thought that the strongest point on that argument would be that we relied heavily on technology, which I do believe is true. I've come to realize that adults are processing this incorrectly. I agree that we spend too much time on facebook, youtube, aim, or other various sites, but you can not really believe that technology, especially in the classrooms, has been anything less than an advantage. If these people would see what we've been able to do, and how much we've grown, they'd have to be crazy to still think we were "dumb". I do things everyday in my forty five minute history class period that most adults would need multiple hours to figure out.
When reading, "8 Reasons Why This Is The Dumbest Generation" I got frustrated. It seemed as though the author was trying too hard to come up with reasons. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt, but they were just wrong. My generation has strong beliefs, and big voices. We do not silence our thoughts for anyone, anywhere. We might get wrapped up in our everyday lives of school, drama, sports, family etc., but we know what is happening in the world, and their has never been a generation more hungry to get out in the real world, and fix it.
We deal with more pressure everyday, than older generations had to. Things are not the same, and I would not expect any adult who thinks that the adolecense of this world is poisonous, to be understanding of that. This "dumbest generation" you speak so inferior to, is the future. We are the people who are going to spend our entire lifetimes attempting to placate your mistakes. We are the people who are going to spend so many years of our lives to study law or medicine and one day save you or your family. The "8 Reasons Why This is The Dumbest Generation" was so juvenile, that I am actually offended after reading it. I assume that the author and their followers think that they have learned immense amounts since they were a teenage and are confident enough to pass judgement on my generation, but I have news for them. They have learned a lot, but not everything. Development is a continuous process, and until you have all of the answers, which no one ever will, do not pass judgement on those whose shoes you have not walked in, do not look down on those of which shoulder's will be carrying you, and please do not insult an entire generation of your children and your family's children. If you want to change something about my generation, you must do it through respect and acceptance. Critising and judging will not promote change. Your course of action has neither been intelligent nor efficient.

Jess I completely agree with all your points. I agree that this man has no right to judge an entire generation. My favorite part was when you talked about the PROCESS of learning and how our generation will continue to learn I love the end of your statement. The conclusion is strong and to the point. Great job.
I think that you articulated your position really well. I could tell by reading your blog that you feel passionately about this issue. You brought up some really good points and you provide a perfect example as to why we are not the dumbest generation. I thought it was really cool that you called out the original author on his broad statement about a generation he clearly knows nothing about.
Jessicaaaaaaa! I totally agree with what you wrote. How can someone judge a generation as a whole? and what gives him that right? He probably does not have kids of his own otherwise he would not criticize us. Over all I think you did a really great job showing what you think about this topic =]
